Alysia Abbott is a writer and radio producer living in Brooklyn, NY. In 1999 she created the website SteveAbbott.org in memory of her father, an gay poet and writer who died of AIDS in 1992.
Alysia is currently working for WNYC’s Leonard Lopate Show and Soundcheck. Her writing has also appeared in Time Out New York, Salon.com, and Glamour. She is a contributor to Out of the Ordinary (St. Martin’s Press), will have an essay in the upcoming Party of One (Random House).
Alysia grew up in San Francisco, California and graduated from New York University. She received her MFA in creative writing from New School University and was the winner of their 2003 Chapbook Competition. She is currently working on a memoir about her father.
