Danny grew up in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. He works as a multi-media historian and is open about being a recovering alcoholic.
Danny writes: “I grew up feeling like a freak and with a great deal of shame and frustration about my childhood. I felt like an alien and utterly alone. Until two years ago I’d only ever spoken to one other person who had a gay parent — and that was in a drunken stupor. Since then I have spoken to many people who have a mixture of experiences, many positive but others negative. This has helped me a great deal. I have found that I can identify with experiences of others and perhaps help with their struggles.
My greatest frustration is that I’ve not had a great deal of success in contacting other British children of LGBT parents.”
