I’m a lesbian daughter of a woman who says she was “only a lesbian for 12 years.” I am currently in a 10 year relationship and we have two children, ages 2 and 6.
We took my mother to our local Pride festival and she went out of her way to find a “Straight but not Narrow — certified straight person” sticker.
It just confuses me. Why rush to get the sticker? Even if she is seeing men now, was she worried that she was so attractive that the women there wouldn’t be able to control themselves around her? Even when she was with a woman she told people “this is just a one time thing.”
She is actually very very supportive of my partner and me raising kids. It just seems to be herself that she can’t accept or understand. I don’t take it too personally, I am equal parts amused and annoyed. Fortunately (or not) this is the extent of her communication on the topic.
