Mike Beebe is a 34 year old son of a gay father and straight mother. He directs an AmeriCorps program in Seattle, WA, dedicated to ending violence with a focus on stopping domestic violence and violence between youth.

Mike writes: “I participated in this book because I feel the voices of our families has been silenced for too long. Especially now with a burgeoning movement to legalize same sex marriage it’s important that our stories are heard and understood. My work on behalf of GLBT families has opened the door to a rich life of activism including anti-racist work, animal rights work, and cooperative living.

Currently I am striving to live a life that honors and respects the innerconnection between animals, humans, and the environment. Along those lines, it’s of great importance to recognize the ways that oppression plays out in our society and how it silences many groups of people. “
