My best friend of 15 years who is the daughter of a lesbian couple. She is 20 years old and was born by artificial insemination. She lies to people and says that her father left her mother when she was young and that her mother’s “friend” moved in to help out with raising her. My mom is a [recently out] lesbian and I approve of her lifestyle. However I really don’t want to see [my mom and her partner] being affectionate with each other. I know it sounds like a double standard, but this is my mom…and that’s very hard for me to deal with. Do you have any advice??? Last week my wife of 27 years told me she was a lesbian, is having an affair and is leaving. Everyone — our gay friends, straight friends, her coworkers who know and my coworkers who know — all believe she is a lesbian.
I don’t think she is. We had great intimacy. We were truly best friends — or so I thought — and so she said. We loved each other in the truest marital sense — not just the sex. Continue reading “Is my wife really gay?”→
My mother is gay, but she does not know I know. About two years ago at Christmas I found a card from her “roommate”, stating she has a hard time when the kids are around because she cannot express her feelings towards my mother.
This letter did not come as a big shock to me, since they have been living together for seven years. I guess my question is, should I just leave well enough alone? Or would it be better to get this out in the open? Continue reading “My mother is gay, but she does not know I know.”→
I am a mother in the process of coming out. My own mother and brother are not accepting at all. My brother has in fact asked that I have no contact with him or his family. My mother, while not local, does visit and I know full well she is going to probe my kids with questions that are personal, and in so doing will leave them wondering “what’s wrong?” Continue reading How to handle non-gay-affirming relatives who have contact with children.→
My friend was married to a gentleman, and they had two daughters. When the eldest daughter was five years old the father came out, saying that he wanted to be a woman. He changed from being male to being female and then the parents got divorced.
The girls are now nine and eleven years old. They see their dad regularly and when they do, she is dressed as a woman but they still call her “dad.” When the eldest daughter sees her dad she becomes very angry and gets into a mood. Can you explain this please? Continue reading Why is an 11-year-old daughter so angry around her transgender dad?→
My wife came out last year and a divorce was finalized two months ago. We had both been married before, and our blended family includes five grown children — all in their 20s.
My wife says she doesn’t want to tell any of the kids because the reason for the divorce is “none of their business.” She doesn’t want me to tell anyone either since it might get back to the kids somehow. Continue reading 4 of the 5 grown kids don’t know Mom is gay.→
